Promising young Capilano University design student, Ryan Pequin, has been chosen by the 2010 Vancouver International Auto Show as the winner of its annual Student Poster Design Competition.
“This is quite easily the biggest thing I’ve accomplished as a designer,” says a very excited Pequin.
In its fourth year, the Student Poster Design competition is an exclusive joint effort between the Capilano University’s IDEA program, and the New Car Dealers of British Columbia. It is aimed at showcasing the incredible talent of the program’s second year design students in real-world applications.
A dedicated group of students vied for top spot at this year’s competition, but Pequin’s poster stood out as being the submission that best captured the spirit of the event. As a result, his work will be displayed at the 2010 Vancouver International Auto Show, as well in new car dealerships across British Columbia.
“All of the judges really felt that Ryan’s design represented the love-affair Vancouverites and British Columbian’s have had for decades with the automobile,” says New Car Dealers Association of British Columbia president, Blair Qualey. “In scoring the submissions it became evident that the creativity and imagination of Ryan’s submission stood out as the clear choice as our 2010 winner.”
Pequin will be awarded the Chairman’s Prize of $1,000 for his winning design. Runnersup in the contest were Miguel Molina and Grant McMillan, in second and third place respectively.
